New Search Vocabulary Report
When you do a search for all forms of a word, you'll see a list of each search result in context. It would be also nice to know how frequent each word is—that’s where the Search Vocabulary report comes in. Here is an example of the Search Vocabulary report for all forms of the word be:
Freq | Words |
---|---|
101,271 | is |
52,281 | was |
49,022 | are |
35,861 | be |
18,191 | were |
11,826 | been |
The Search Vocabulary report generates a list of the words that were found from a search query and each word’s frequency. This report is plain when looking for just one word, but it is most useful when searching for all forms of a word or using the wildcard *
.
In past versions of WordCruncher, the Search Vocabulary report was not as useful for phrases. When you searched for a phrase like “the most *”, this is what you’d see in the report:
Freq | Words |
---|---|
327,143 | the |
5,124 | most |
4,898 | important |
2,090 | interesting |
Neither we nor our users found this report to be very useful because the phrases were separated into individual words. We’ve modified the report so you’ll see a table like this:
Freq | Words |
---|---|
477 | the most important |
148 | the most powerful |
83 | the most common |
75 | the most amazing |
69 | the most beautiful |
We hope that you'll find this to be more insightful as you search for phrases in WordCruncher!
